I am a certified and practicing member of the Foundation for Emotional Therapeutic Counselling (Advanced Diploma) and have a diploma in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. I use an integrative approach with emphasis on both of these modalities, and also draw on my own life experiences to help clients. I believe in the process of lifelong learning and that our journey of self-discovery is ongoing.
Over the last few years I have helped many men, women, couples and adolescents who have been experiencing difficulties in a variety of areas of their lives.
I have a background in school business management and have worked within the education sector for many years. Having worked within such a busy and time-pressured environment, and with many different people, I am all too aware of how the demands of the workplace and other areas of our lives can cause stress, and the effects that stress can have on our minds and our bodies.
I am passionate in believing that our emotional wellbeing holds the key to a contented and fulfilling life, and I am a trainer for the Foundation for Emotional Therapeutic Counselling, which runs both Certificate and Diploma counselling training, which is accredited by the National Counselling Society, and also CPD days
I have benefitted myself from the process of Emotional Therapeutic Counselling and I know that it can positively change the way in which we perceive ourselves, others and the world.
I am an accredited registrant of the National Counselling Society (MNCS Accred). I am on an Accredited Register that has been accredited by the Professional Standards Authority. The Accredited Register programme was set up by the Government to improve standards and safety for the benefit of the public. Accreditation demonstrates my commitment to high professional standards, to enhancing safety and delivering a better service.
I currently supervise diploma students and practising counselllors and mentor those embarking upon their training.
I am a trained first aider, hold an enhanced DBS clearance, and am fully aware of safeguarding issues.
My approach is always respectful, accepting, and paced to needs of each individual, and the way I work with each individual will be different according to need. I have a reputation for making people feel quickly at ease, but also for getting to the core feeling or feelings which are causing the emotional difficulties.
